My journey in photography started in small town USA. As a graduate student at Ohio University in Athens, I loved finding and meeting special people- like Hathaway Meadows, a centenarian born on Valentine’s Day in 1898 or 16-year-old single mother with twins, Lisa Allbery, who was determined to finish high school. Telling stories with compelling photography was my passion as my newspaper career took me to Hays, KS, Muskegon, MI, Norfolk, VA and later as a staff photographer for The New York Times. In the 6 exhilarating years that followed, I covered stories across America, local happenings in the 5 boroughs of New York City and at times had the good fortune of doing travel stories internationally. Life has now brought me to beautiful Skagit Valley in Washington. The adventure continues.
